Moxi Laser
A gentle yet powerful fractional laser that refreshes and resurfaces your skin from within — treating melasma, pigmentation, sun damage, and fine lines with minimal downtime. Safe for all skin types and tones.
About Moxi Laser
Moxi is a fractionated non-ablative 1927nm laser designed for skin rejuvenation, pigment correction, and preventative anti-aging. Unlike aggressive ablative lasers, Moxi targets water within the skin cells to create microscopic treatment zones that stimulate your body's natural healing response — promoting collagen production, cellular turnover, and the regeneration of fresh, healthy skin from within.
Moxi is particularly effective for treating melasma, sun damage, uneven skin tone, fine lines, and dull complexion. It is safe for all skin types and tones (Fitzpatrick I through VI), making it one of the most versatile laser treatments available. The procedure requires minimal downtime — most patients return to normal activities the same day and see bright, refreshed skin within 7 to 10 days. At Alonso Aesthetics & Wellness in Tampa, Florida, all Moxi treatments are performed by our board-certified Nurse Practitioner, Gwen Alonso, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, who customizes every session to your unique skin concerns and goals.

What Makes Moxi Different
-
Safe for All Skin Types
Unlike many laser treatments, Moxi's 1927nm wavelength targets water rather than melanin, making it safe and effective for all skin types and tones — including Fitzpatrick types V and VI. It can also be performed during any season.
-
Minimal Downtime
Moxi is a non-ablative fractional laser, meaning it creates microscopic treatment zones without removing the outer layer of skin. Most patients experience only 3 to 5 days of mild roughness and can return to normal activities the same day.
-
Preventative Anti-Aging
Moxi is ideal for patients in their 20s and 30s looking to maintain youthful skin and prevent premature aging. It stimulates collagen production and cellular renewal without the intensity of ablative resurfacing.
-
Melasma Specialist
Moxi is one of the few laser treatments safe for melasma. Its unique wavelength targets water attached to pigment, helping resolve stubborn pigmentation without triggering rebound hyperpigmentation.
-
Pairs with BBL HEROic
For enhanced results, Moxi can be combined with BBL HEROic in a single session. The combination addresses both surface pigment (BBL) and deeper skin renewal (Moxi) for comprehensive rejuvenation at a discounted combo price.

How It Works
-
Consultation
During your consultation, Gwen will assess your skin concerns, evaluate your skin type, and determine whether Moxi alone or a Moxi + BBL HEROic combination will deliver the best results for your goals.
-
Preparation
Minimize direct sun exposure for 2 weeks before treatment. Discontinue photosensitizing medications and retinol 72 hours prior. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Topical numbing cream is applied for 20 to 30 minutes before the procedure.
-
Treatment
Protective eyewear is placed and the Moxi handpiece is passed over the treatment area, delivering controlled fractional laser energy. You will feel a mild tingling or warm sensation. Most sessions take 20 to 30 minutes depending on the area.
-
Results & Aftercare
Your skin may feel warm and appear slightly red for a few hours. Within 2 to 3 days, tiny dark spots called MENDs (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris) will appear — this is treated pigment rising to the surface. These naturally exfoliate within 7 to 10 days, revealing brighter, smoother skin beneath. Apply SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun for 2 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Moxi Laser and how does it work?
Moxi is a fractionated non-ablative 1927nm laser that targets water within the skin cells. It creates microscopic treatment zones that stimulate your body's natural healing response, promoting collagen production and cellular turnover without removing the outer layer of skin. This results in smoother, brighter, more even-toned skin with minimal downtime.
Is Moxi safe for darker skin tones?
Yes! Moxi is one of the few laser treatments safe for all skin types and tones, including Fitzpatrick types V and VI. Because the 1927nm wavelength targets water rather than melanin, it does not carry the same risk of hyperpigmentation that other lasers may pose for darker skin tones.
Does Moxi Laser hurt?
Most patients describe a mild tingling or warm sensation during treatment. We apply topical numbing cream 20 to 30 minutes before the procedure to ensure your comfort. The treatment is very well tolerated and does not require any anesthesia.
What is the downtime after Moxi?
Moxi requires minimal downtime. Your skin may feel warm and appear slightly red for a few hours after treatment. Within 2 to 3 days, small dark spots (MENDs) will appear as treated pigment rises to the surface. These naturally exfoliate within 7 to 10 days. You can return to normal activities the same day and apply makeup after 24 hours.
How many treatments will I need?
For pigmentation, melasma, or texture concerns, we recommend 3 to 4 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for optimal results. For anti-aging maintenance, 2 to 3 treatments per year are recommended. Gwen will create a personalized treatment plan during your consultation.
When will I see results?
You will begin to see brighter, more refreshed skin within 7 to 10 days as the MENDs exfoliate and new skin is revealed. Continued improvement occurs over the following weeks as collagen production increases. Most patients see significant improvement after 2 to 3 sessions.
Can I combine Moxi with BBL HEROic?
Yes! Moxi and BBL HEROic are an excellent combination and can be performed in the same session. BBL targets surface pigment and redness while Moxi works deeper to resurface and stimulate collagen. We offer a discounted combo price for both treatments together — ask about our Moxi + BBL package.
Is Moxi good for melasma?
Moxi is one of our go-to treatments for melasma. Its unique 1927nm wavelength targets water attached to pigment, helping resolve stubborn pigmentation without triggering rebound hyperpigmentation. It is one of the safest and most effective laser options for melasma management.
Can I get Moxi if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Moxi Laser treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Please let us know during your consultation if this applies to you so we can recommend alternative treatments.
What is Pronox and can I add it to my treatment?
Pronox is a self-administered nitrous oxide (laughing gas) system that provides fast-acting comfort during your laser treatment. You breathe it in through a small mouthpiece and feel relaxed within seconds. The effects wear off almost immediately after you stop, so you can drive yourself home. It is available as an optional add-on for $40 per session with any Moxi treatment.
