What to Expect Before SkinPen Microneedling:

1. Consultation
   Expect a consultation with your provider to discuss your skin concerns, medical history, and goals. This helps determine if microneedling is right for you.

2. Avoid Sun Exposure & Skin Irritants
   Stay out of direct sun and avoid using harsh skincare products, like retinoids or acids, for about a week before your treatment.

3. No Blood Thinners
   Avoid alcohol, aspirin, and other blood-thinning medications a few days prior to minimize the risk of bruising.

4. Clean Skin
   Arrive at your appointment with a clean, makeup-free face, as the procedure is most effective on unblemished skin.

5. Topical Numbing
   A topical numbing cream will be applied to the skin 30-60 minutes before the procedure to ensure comfort during microneedling.

What to Expect After Microneedling:

1. Redness & Swelling
   Your skin may appear red or flushed, similar to a mild sunburn, for a few hours to a couple of days after treatment. Swelling is also common, especially around the treated areas.

2. Minimal Downtime
   Most people experience little to no downtime. You can return to normal activities within 24-48 hours, but avoid direct sun exposure and strenuous exercise for a few days.

3. Skin Sensitivity
   Your skin may feel sensitive or tight for a few days. It’s important to hydrate and keep your skin moisturized during the healing process.

4. Flaking or Peeling
   Some mild flaking or peeling may occur as your skin regenerates, which is completely normal.

5. Gradual Results
   You’ll start to see improvements within a week, but the full benefits of microneedling, such as smoother, firmer skin, will develop over several weeks as collagen production continues to increase.

6. Follow Aftercare
   Follow any aftercare instructions provided by your provider, including gentle skincare, avoiding sun exposure, and refraining from makeup for 24 hours.
